Resource Area for Teaching (RAFT) and Institute for Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME) join hands to concentrate on transformational change in K-20 education at the yearly Big Tips Fest, December 4th-7th, 2011. The meeting gathers top minds, from innovators, speakers, students, to individuals from foundations and text-book businesses, to share their work and tips in an environment which encourages risk-taking and total imagining of the impossible.

Big Tips Fest’s unique format includes RapidFire talks from leading innovators like Martha Kanter, Under Secretary, U.S. Department of Education, Danny Hillis, Chairman and Co-founder, Applied Minds and Georgette Yakman, Founder, STEAM Education; interactive networking with education’s movers and shakers; and Action Collabs that are design-thinking labs which engage groups to brainstorm, prototype, and ultimately create scalable solutions to cumbersome problems in education.

Greg Brown, Director of Education at RAFT, may facilitate a multi-day Action Collab at this year’s Big Tips Fest. According to Greg, the Action Collabs protocol is really similar towards the creative product growth process utilized daily at RAFT. “The same hands-on approach may help Big Tips Fest participants to create and test tips fast, and may open the door for exciting products to emerge. I’m sure we’ll see many effective and useful solutions come from these sessions.”

Since its inception, RAFT offers focused on helping educators transform a child’s understanding experience through hands-on education which inspires the joy and discovery of understanding. By partnering with Big Tips Fest, RAFT is more strengthening this concentrate.

RAFT offers additionally donated the materials for Action Collabs prototyping sessions this year. Megan Simmons, ISKME Education Program Director, adds, Ive been a RAFT fan even before I became the Education Program Manager at ISKME. The materials are awesome at RAFT!
